What This Is
Spooky Bites is a small, non-commercial hobby site collecting Halloween baking ideas in one place: a short list of party bakes, a handful of full recipes, a techniques primer, and a not-very-serious quiz. It started as a sibling to Spookology, a general Halloween site, carved off so the baking material could have room to grow.
Who It's For
Home bakers who want their Halloween spread to look intentional without spending the whole of October on it. Most recipes here are make-ahead, most are forgiving, and the ones that aren't say so clearly. If you have made a boxed cake mix and owned a piping bag once, you are the target audience.
Why It Looks Like an Old Apothecary
Halloween baking defaults to bright orange and black, which photographs as a muddy blur and reads a little juvenile. Spooky Bites instead borrows from vintage occult and apothecary print: deep aubergine for structure (the navigation, the footer, the panels), warm bone paper for the page itself, and antique gold for the small accents — links, focus outlines, the hairline rules under headings. Headings are set in Playfair Display, a high-contrast editorial serif; body text is Ysabeau, a humanist face with old-style figures. The techniques page covers how to hit moody, grown-up Halloween colours in an actual bake without them turning grey.
The Fine Print
The newsletter and contact forms are front-end demos and don't send anything anywhere. Recipes you save to favourites stay in your browser only, unless you sign in — then they're saved to your account instead, so they follow you to other devices.
